HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Valentine's Day has come around again! I know a lot of people don't really care for the day (I've also felt that way) and though we should appreciate our significant others every day, it does feel nice to have a set day to celebrate love and dear ones. It's also a good excuse to eat some cake, put on a nice dress and go on a date. I'm not big on going out for Valentines', so last year we celebrated by throwing a brunch of sorts (see it here). I baked a lot of goodies, we sat down, ate and exchanged our presents. I thought we'd keep the tradition alive and had the same brunch this year. Since we are both working on the 14th, we used this last beautiful Sunday before to celebrate.

Sõbrapäev on jälle käes!

Although my love for blush and pink is well documented, I wanted to wear something classic and versatile for the day. As much as I love beautiful thematic Valentine's outfits in bright pink or deep red, I don't really have the closet space to have an entire outfit wait for the next time I feel like dressing up super girly (probably next Valentine's Day). I opted for a look that is timeless and would work for any other occasion! I  have loved this chiffon top ever since I got it and worn it to death, because it makes just about any outfit chic. I had planned to have a pink clutch to go with this ensemble, but since we were spending time at home, I didn't really have a need for it.

For the snacks, I used my good friend Pinterest to make this mini cake. Needless to say, I lacked in the finess department and after about five hours of sweating in the kitchen, frustrated to the core, came up with this beautiful creature. I won't be applying for the food blog of the year award any time soon! I learned a few tricks along the way and probably will be a lot more experienced for my next cake-attempt! The cake was really delicious though!

A gave me those beautiful earrings! They look so classic and ageless and I still keep opening the box, giving out a little sigh of admiration and put them back safely. I know I'll be appreciating them for all my life! And what's a Valentine's Day without any shoes? I got myself a pair of these classic pumps. For being such a staple silhouette, I've never actually ownned a pair like these. I was planning to wear them with this outfit, but I'll have to send these specific ones back because they're very small on me.

A kinkis mulle need imekaunid kuldkõrvarõngad!

I took my own advice (here) and gifted A a very practical bathrobe! It's nearly not as glamorous as earrings, but it's such a nice fabric and knowing him, will be put to good use! This picture features the cards we wrote each other - I thought it was funny how they pretty much say the same thing! His reads "You are the dearest to me in the whole world" and mine "I love you the most in the whole world" (direct translation, but it makes sense in Estonian). It's on the same cards because those are the only ones we had at home.

I hope you enjoy Valentine's Day this year and remember it's not all about the bells and whistles! Restaurants tend to be crowded on this day and some of the best Valentines' we've spent together have been cuddling up on the sofa, munching on takeaway sushi (it was especially tasty, because there was a 45 minute wait). The most important thing is taking time for one another and enjoying each others company! What's your favourite thing to do for Valentines'? Or if you're reading this after, did you celebrate and what did you do? Wishing you all the best!
